About our 100 year history

On the 11th December 1916 a group of men from the Mornington community met at the Mechanics Institute building in Main street to discuss the formation of a fire brigade.

Following the meeting a letter was forwarded to the Country Fire Brigades Board (CFBB) requesting approval for the formation of a fire brigade in Mornington.

Later that month, correspondence from the CFBB advised that it had approved the request, and that the Mornington Fire Brigade would be registered with 20 founding members on the 1st of January 1917.

Accordingly, 2016 is the Brigade's 100th year of service to the Mornington and surrounding communities and the 1st of January 2017 will mark the Brigade's 100th Anniversary.
